Annie Olmstead

As a graduate student, I was lucky enough to work at Haskins Laboratories. In addition to producing the foundational research that shaped the way I think about human speech, the institution itself exemplified the approach of setting aside ego, tribalism, and treasured assumptions in the pursuit of knowledge. My time at Haskins set my expectations for what scientific laboratories could be when the individual scientist prioritizes cooperation and mutual respect.
