Part-Time Employment, Work-Study Opportunities, and Internships

The University Libraries only accepts applications for posted positions.  Libraries Human Resources is not involved in the interview and selection process of Part-Time, Work-Study, or Internship positions.  The appropriate supervisor will be responsible for reviewing applications, contacting qualified applicants for an interview, and making the final hiring decisions. 

All job opportunities are posted on the Penn State Jobs site.  To be considered for a job, applicants must submit employment applications online by the stated application deadline.  Libraries Human Resources does not maintain an active file of applications.  Employment will require the successful completion of a background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

Faculty Positions

Librarians at Penn State have full faculty status.  Successful candidates will be expected to be active in research, scholarship and service as faculty members at Penn State.  Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.  Salaries are based upon experience, education, and position responsibilities.  Excellent fringe benefits include liberal vacation, excellent health/medical insurance, State or TIAA retirement options, and educational privileges.

Staff Vacancies

The University’s Office of Human Resources is responsible for maintaining a list of all available full-time staff vacancies.  Any staff positions in the University Libraries that are currently available would be posted on the Penn State Jobs site. Please note that the University only accepts applications for posted positions, general applications are not accepted.

Technical Service (Union) Job Vacancies

The University’s Office of Human Resources is responsible for maintaining a list of all available technical service vacancies.  Any technical service positions in the University Libraries that are open to public applicants would be posted on the Penn State Jobs site. If you are a current Penn State Technical Service employee, you can view all jobs available for bidding.

Graduate Assistantships in the Libraries

When the University Libraries has graduate assistantships available, the library department works directly with the appropriate academic college to recruit potential applicants.  We encourage you to visit your academic college's graduate student office for information on any available assistantships that would relate to your academic discipline.  Some areas of the university also post graduate assistantship positions on the Penn State Jobs site.
