Salary
University Library employee salaries, whether faculty or staff, typically correspond with experience, qualifications, and rank/level of the position and whether the position is tenure or non-tenure. Details about University Libraries recruitment and hiring practices are found in Guideline UL-ACG15 Faculty Recruitment and in the University Policy AC13 Procedure for Hiring Full-time Faculty.
NOTE: Salary offers for our faculty positions are commensurate with a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience. The rank at which someone is appointed (Assistant Librarian, Associate Librarian, Librarian) also influences a salary offer. The minimum starting salary range for an Assistant Librarian position begins at $58,000. In addition to a competitive salary, full-time employees also receive a comprehensive benefits program, generous paid time off, and tuition discount for employees and eligible family members.
Specific to staff positions, salaries are aligned with a position’s profile, classification, and level. Visit Penn State HR’s Compensation & Classification webpage for more information.
