WELCOME to the University Libraries, the heart of Penn State.
You are on a tremendously exciting journey of experiencing and creating scholarship at Penn State. As your window on the world's scholarship, the Libraries will help you navigate through information and serve as your base to pursue a wide-array of intellectual, social, and cultural adventures.
We have many exciting services throughout our library locations. The Tombros and McWhirter Knowledge Commons in Pattee Library offers a 24-hour facility, technology and research help in one location, a Media Commons, circulating laptops and iPads, collaborative study spaces with Mediascapes, solo space when desired, other equipment, and more—all in a comfortable environment.
Tour the Libraries' homepage. LionSearch finds multiple library resources—books, articles, newspapers, databases and more—from a single search box. Mimicking open Web search methods, entering a search term in LionSearch returns, nearly instantaneously, a list of relevant physical and digital materials from the Libraries’ collections. Click on the tab "Ask a Librarian" to chat directly with one of our experts. They are here to help you.
The strong convergence of Penn State’s vision and the Libraries’ plans and activities support academic excellence, research prominence, and superior public service. I continue to be energized by Penn State’s passion for and the Libraries role in creating knowledge and educating students to be leaders and problem solvers for a complex world.
I invite you access to our collections of millions of books (including E-books), thousands of serials, and hundreds of databases at all Penn State locations. Additionally, our librarians and staff will help you in person or virtually with instructional programs, online guides, course reserves, digital projects, equipment, and more.
We offer superior expertise, collections, services, technologies, and other resources to meet your needs throughout your journey. Feed your mind at one of 36 libraries or virtually, 24/7, at www.libraries.psu.edu from home, office, or the other side of the world. Come in, call, chat, e-mail, or text message us. We can't wait to hear from you.
