Pattee and Paterno Libraries

Building Entrance

The East Entrance (from Curtin Road) and West Entrance (from the West Pattee Terrace) are wheelchair accessible.

Wheelchairs

There are two wheelchairs available for visitors to use. You can request a wheelchair at the East Welcome Desk.

Service Animals

Elevators

Elevators in East Paterno, West Pattee, and Central Pattee are available at and provide access to the following locations:

  • Paterno 1st floor, near the East Welcome Desk; provides access to the ground level and1st through 5th floors
  • Central Pattee 1st floor near the Commons Services Desk; provides access to the ground level, first, and 2nd floors
  • West Pattee 1st floor, behind the Knowledge Commons; provides access to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors

Parking

Accessible parking options at University Park are provided by Penn State Transportation Services.

Public Transit

The Pattee and Paterno Libraries and the Earth and Mineral Sciences Library are located on public transit routes. Other libraries have public transit stops within several blocks.

University Park Access Map

Penn State Transportation Services provides a detailed map of wheelchair-accessible routes and buildings at University Park, which also includes elevators, power doors, and other accessible building features.

 

Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library

  • Public restrooms are located on the first floor outside of the Library space.
  • Two of the four exterior doors provide automatic openers. The exterior door closest to the library (facing Hort Woods) does not have an automatic opener.
  • There is an ADA compliant ramp from the interior lobby and service desk to the main library floor.
  • An ADA compliant computer on adjustable height table is available for public use.
  • The doors to the library Instruction and Group Study rooms do not have automatic openers, but library staff will be able to assist if needed.

Earth and Mineral Sciences Library

  • All three entrances to the Deike Building are wheelchair accessible.
  • Elevators at both ends of the building take you to the library located on the first floor (one opens directly into the library and the other in the hallway with automatic door openers to enter the library).
  • The Service Desk has a low/ADA compliant station.
  • There is an ADA compliant table in the instruction space.

  • There is a quiet area in the library with height adjustable tables and chairs.

  • Group study rooms have adjustable lighting.

  • There are oversize chairs without casters available.

  • Headphones can be borrowed from the Service desk.

  • Assistance with retrieval of materials is available.

  • A scanner with over-size display is available to enlarge print resources.

Engineering Library

  • The entrance under Kunkle Lounge located on the east side of Hammond Building is wheelchair accessible; use the elevator located there to the 3rd floor.
  • The main library entrance includes an automatic door opener.
  • Public restrooms are located right outside of the main entrance with automatic door openers.
  • There are no accessible doors in the Group Study Rooms/One Button Studio or instruction room; however, the instruction room door is open when the library is open, and when it is not being used for instruction. Library staff are available for assistance if needed.
  • There is Braille on room number signage, floor numbers, and elevator buttons.
  • The Service Desk has a low ADA compliant station.

Montague Law Library

  • Entrances to the Katz Guilding are wheelchair accessible with automatic door openers.
  • An elevator is available to access the basement, second, and third floors of the building.
  • The main library entrance includes an automatic door opener.
  • Public restrooms are located on the second floor outside the library space.
  • One, all-gender bathroom is located in library.
  • An ADA compliant computer is available.
  • An ADA compliant study carrel is available.
  • An ADA compliant ramp is located in library.
  • An elevator is available in library to access library space in the basement and on the third floor.

Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library

  • All three entrances to Davey Laboratory are wheelchair accessible.
  • Elevators located at two ends of the building take you to the library located on the second floor (one opens directly into the library and the other in the hallway with automatic door opener to enter the library).
  • The Service desk has a low ADA compliant station.
  • There is an ADA compliant table in the teaching space.
