Digitization Services: Audiovisual Transfer

Requests for audiovisual conversion are only for Library-owned collections.

What formats can be converted to a digital version?

  • Cassettes
  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • VHS
  • Film
  • U-Matic tapes to film

University Libraries is unable to transfer certain formats; in these cases, a  trusted third-party vendor will be recommended by our staff.

As noted, Libraries will only handle AV conversion requests for library-owned collections. Requests for personally-owned material, such as converting a home movie, need to be handled by a third-party vendor. Preservation, Conservation, and Digitization staff maintain a list of trusted AV vendors. Contact digiconversion@psu.edu for the list.
