Spaces & Technology
One Button Studio
The One Button Studio will remain in room 107 for the fall semester. It will be available, but appointments must be made in order to ensure cleaning of the area between uses. Make an appointment to use the One Button Studio.
3D Printers and Banner Printer
The 3D printers will only be available to library staff. If you would like something 3D printed, please contact Matt Wayman at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will print items for pickup at the circulation desk.
The banner printer may be used only by appointment. Make an appointment to use the banner printer.
Whenever possible, the library will purchase electronic versions of course materials. However, most publishers do not allow for digital licensing of electronic textbooks to libraries. Students are reminded that the Campus Bookstore is the location for purchasing their own copies of course textbooks. The Ciletti Memorial Library provides a select number of textbooks to students for temporary use.
Print course reserve textbooks are subject to the same 96-hour quarantine period as most other library materials, however, course reserve items will circulate for at least 24 hours, and some for up to a 7-day loan period, depending on the loan period requested by the faculty member teaching the corresponding course.
The Ciletti Memorial Library will work with campus faculty to determine whether we can make any course materials available electronically via our e-Reserves system. Students are asked to encourage their faculty to reach out to library staff, if they have not done so already.
Reference and Instruction
Jason Reuscher will be providing all library instruction sessions via Zoom for the Fall 2020 semester. Faculty may contact him at email@example.com to discuss options that will work for your needs.
Circulation of Library Materials
Physical library materials (books, laptops, Media Commons equipment) that can not be easily cleaned will be quarantined for 96 hours upon return.
DVDs, calculators, flash drives, and any other items that can be easily cleaned upon return are not subject to quarantine and can recirculate immediately after cleaning.
All library collections, including print periodicals, will be closed to browsing. All physical materials will be request only via the University Libraries catalog or by contacting library staff. Please try to request items ahead of time. Library staff will prepare items to be picked up and contact people via email when their materials are available.
Some library books are unavailable for checkout because of the library’s agreement with HathiTrust. These books are available digitally and can be found on the HathiTrust database via the library’s web site. Anyone requesting an item already available in HathiTrust will be notified and provided with access instructions.
The library’s first floor will have socially-distanced study carrels available, along with a limited number of computers in the circulation desk area. A limited number of library laptops will be available for checkout.
- All group study rooms will be closed
- The second floor will be closed
All library patrons must wear masks for the duration of their stay in the library
Because of the requirement that all library patrons must wear masks while in the library, food and drinks will not be permitted in the library
All library furniture has been placed to facilitate the maximum possible capacity while maintaining health and safety. Please do not move any furniture items.
The Special Collections room will be closed. If there are any specific requests to use Special Collections items, please contact Matt Wayman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The building has three levels. The top two levels house the library, and the bottom level houses the Learning Center.
Group Study Rooms
Group study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Note that group study rooms are primarily for study, so conversations should be kept to a normal level.
|Main floor next to the reading room (to the far right of the entrance).||Two or more.||Any groups of two or more wishing to use a collaborative workstation will take precedence over individuals.|
Studio (Instruction Lab) Room
The Studio has been newly renovated and is now a computer lab with 28 library computers. The Studio may be reserved for library instruction sessions.
When not used for classes, the Studio is an open computer lab for student use. All other library policies must be followed, including noise policies, restrictions on gaming, etc.
Scan, Copy and Print
- Two dimensional scanners are located near the library's entrance and in the Media Commons' room.
- A 3D scanner is available in the One Button Studio.
The Library also has a Minolta RP603Z scanner to view microfilm and microfiche.
- Public computers in the instruction room/studio print to the printer in that room. All other public computers in the library print to the printer located near the entrance.
Two 3D printers are available in the One-Button Studio.
- A Canon imagePROGRAF iPF770 large format printer is available in the One-Button Studio. Please sign-up to use it at the circulation desk. For technical assistance (changing paper rolls or ink cartridges), please ask for help at the circulation desk. This printer can create different-sized posters and banners including 24 X 36" and 36" X 48". Typically we have 170gsm matte paper loaded in the printer, but we also have bond paper as well. Ink saturation and quality level can be adjusted depending on your project needs. Helpful training videos from Canon:
Textbooks and Reserves
Contact Rosanne Chesakis for assistance. Faculty may place items such as books, articles, video or audio recordings on reserve at the library's circulation desk for student use. Articles and small portions of books may also be placed on electronic reserve, making the item accessible through the E-Reserves system and also through Canvas.
