A/V Material
The Eighth Air Force Archive holds a number of audiotapes of service member's oral recollections and histories. For example, we have recordings of Al Brown, a pilot from the 8th Airforce who was part of the first bomb crew to finish with the original members from mission one of their tour of duty. Not only was Brown the first to fulfill the twenty-five mission requirement with his original crew, none of his team were ever injured in combat.
The Eighth Air Force Archive collection of video documentaries also includes actual gun camera footage of the 355th Fighter Group in the VIIIth Fighter Command, demonstrating operations in the strategic bombing campaign. Below are stills from videos in the collection.
