Accessibility at the Harrisburg Campus Library

Accessible Entrances

The doors at the library’s entrance which face the campus quad can be opened by pressing an ADA push plate. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Wheelchairs

One wheelchair is available at the Circulation/Reserves Desk on the first floor.

Elevators

Two elevators provide access to all three floors of the library and are centrally located within the building near the classroom corridors. Braille is available on the elevator buttons, room number signage, and floor numbers.

Restrooms

Public restrooms are located on each of the library’s three floors along the classroom corridors. Restroom doors on the first floor can be opened with ADA push plates.

Accessible Workstations

Computer workstations at three carrels in the reference area on the first floor of the library are designed to provide wheelchair access. Software for the JAWS screen reader and the ZoomText magnifier/reader is installed on student computers in the library.

Sensory and Neurodiversity Support

Students can borrow Smartpens for notetaking support at the Circulation/Reserves Desk.  Noise-canceling headphones and a portable white noise sound machine are also available as focus tools while studying.

ADA Accessible Parking

The Penn State Harrisburg Campus Map provides the locations of ADA accessible parking and buildings. The ADA accessible parking spaces closest to the library are in the Library/Student Enrichment Center parking lot and in the parking area in front of the Olmsted Building.
