Haller, Raymond, and Brown Corporation (now a Raytheon division)
"Oh, what is so rare as a day in June!" says the poet. Hajjar's stunning headquarters building for the Haller, Raymond, Brown Corporation is especially brilliant in the bright, late Spring sun. In the executive wing shown below, everyone got to share the view in the general purpose Sky Room on the top floor. Just below, offices for top management also presented vistas of the Tussey Mountains across the valley.
On the road end of the ground floor was a large auditorium. Employees' service facilities were also located there, including a full-time barber shop. The grounds were given the same detailed attention as the main structure, with flowering trees and shrubs strategically located to present a floral focus point during the entire growing season.
HRB was a pioneer in electronic surveillance for the Central Intelligence Agency and developed the equipment for the well-known U-2 spy plane shot down over Russia during the Eisenhower administration. The business has had its ups and downs, most notably as HRB-Singer, but it is currently in resurgence as a division of Raytheon.
