Accessibility at the Behrend Library

Accessible Entrances

We have a total of four:

  • At the main entrance to the library
  • Through the Kochel Center on the First Floor, nearest to the Reed Student Union
  • Through the Kochel Center on the Ground Floor, nearest to the Reed Student Union
  • Through the Kochel Center on the Ground Floor, nearest to the accessible parking lot

Wheelchairs

N/A at this time.

Elevators

One elevator to all three floors of the library is available across from the Circulation Desk at the entrance to the library.

Restrooms

There is one restroom on each floor of the library. The restrooms on the First Floor of the Library are the only accessible restrooms in the building. There are gender neutral restrooms on the Ground Floor of Kochel Center immediately adjacent to the library.

Accessible Workstations

Several accessible workstations are available near the IT Help Desk on the First Floor of the Library.

Sensory and Neurodiversity Support

While there isn't sensory and neurodiversity support at this time, there are several individual study rooms on the Ground Floor where the doors can be shut, and the lighting can be adjusted.

ADA Accessible Parking

There is accessible parking immediately adjacent to the library behind the Kochel Center (3 spaces). There are also several spaces in the Reed Lot with an accessible paths from the lot to the library.

Public Transit

The library is near a bus stop (in front of the Reed Union Building) for the Erie Metropolitan Transportation Authority routes 18 (Behrend Shuttle) and 26 (Downtown and Wesleyville). Visit Penn State Behrend's Bus Service and Campus Loop page for details.
