Renew Library Materials

My Library Account lists items currently checked out to your library account, including due dates, overdues, and holds. From here, you can renew your materials.

Use the renew feature under Checkouts when you wish to renew items on your library account. Most Penn State materials that do not have restricted loan periods may be renewed twice for students and non-PSU borrowers. After two renewals, items must be returned to the Libraries where materials not requested by other borrowers may be checked out again. Faculty and staff receive unlimited renewals on eligible items.

Please Note: Recalled items, special permission loans, or items on course reserve are not eligible for renewal. Overdue fees may be assessed for items renewed after the original due date

Select My Library Account in The CAT and review the list of items checked out to your account. Place a check in the box next to any item you wish to renew, and click the Renew Selected Items button at the bottom of screen.

You can also use the Renew All button at the top of the list to select all items at once. Then click the Renew Selected Items button at the bottom of the screen.

Selecting items for renewal does not guarantee that they will be renewed. Check item dues dates on the confirmation page to verify your renewals.

Please Note:

Renew All will renew all eligible items regardless of due date, and will count as one renewal even if the due date does not change. Therefore, we recommend that you select for renewal only items that are overdue or will become due soon instead of using the "Renew All" option.
