Brian Onishi

The work of Algernon Blackwood is largely responsible for my transition to writing about the "eco-weird," a term I coined in 2020 that has become a central focus of my research and resulted in an edited volume on the subject, for which I am a co-editor. Blackwood's writing mixes weird fiction, phenomenology, and ecosophy to generate wonder and terror about the natural world. "The Willows," Blackwood's most influential story, is central to my ongoing philosophical development.
