As a computer systems researcher, I have always appreciated the theoretical underpinnings behind applied systems problems. This book bridges queueing theory and computer systems to provide a principled approach for understanding the performance of systems. Through simple explanations, complex theory and mathematics are presented in a way that is understandable by a general audience. The insights from this book have influenced numerous system designs, including much of my own research.
