Shomir Wilson

I am a computer scientist by training, but I get inspiration for teaching and mentorship from the liberal arts, and more broadly, the concept of the liberal education. Twentieth-century American poet William Stafford explained in essays and interviews how he saw students as his collaborators in the exploration of ideas; he encouraged and guided them but also valued their abilities to contribute. That respect for students has long been a hallmark of my favorite academic spaces.
