This image of finding stability parallels the life experiences of the heroine in this Pulitzer Prize winning novel. To me, this book is about the inner strength of women and the self-discovery process in life. The notion of coming to rest signifies the reaching of a pinnacle and a certain satisfaction and confidence that one achieves with life, home and career.
