Book Title
Control and Optimization of Multiscale Process Systems
Book Description
This book presents a new perspective to an old problem in the area of control and optimization for chemical processes. One of the oldest questions in process optimization and control is how to simultaneously achieve product quality and process yield. Motivated by the recent increase in computational capabilities, the product quality can finally be predicted through large scale computations. The direct use of such simulations to improve product quality and yield at the same time is still an open issue. Christofides presents a mathematically consistent methodology that deals with the issues arising from the new computational capabilities that are available to engineers. At the same time, it describes the open issues that are available in this rich area.
