In order to accommodate the new cafe and student study spaces on the first floor of Paterno Library, the two Libraries' departments formerly in that space, Cataloging and Metadata Services and Acquisitions, moved to a newly renovated work area on the ground floor of Paterno Library in May 2018. The new space provides Cataloging and Acquisitions faculty and staff offices and workspaces, as well as five focus rooms, two small conference rooms, and a kitchenette and cafe tables for use by all Libraries faculty and staff.
The space vacated by Cataloging and Acquisitions staff and faculty was re-purposed for the new cafe, newspapers and periodicals, student study space and group study rooms. One portion of 126 Paterno was retained for Special Collections cataloging faculty and staff offices, an expanded Receiving Room, movement of materials from the Receiving Room to ground floor Paterno, and a proposed multi-purpose staff conference/meeting room.
