Spaces & Technology

The number of desktop computers in the library will be greatly reduced, due to social distancing. However, we will have 12 computer workstations. Please bring your own headphones or earbuds. There are also four Mac computers in the library, and one iMac available. We also have laptops available for check out.

Computer use is limited to students, faculty, and staff for Fall 2020. Students: You need to bring your own device to the areas set up on campus for participating in your Zoom classes. There are 18 seats available to reserve for Zoom Classes.  Seats may be reserved for 2 hour time slots.

Several Library computers have been converted to WebLabs, and may be accessed remotely.

Course Reserves

Textbooks that are part of our Course Reserves are available for checkout (for a 24-hour period) from the Service Desk in the library. Usage of print course reserves will be very limited in the fall semester, due to a mandated 96-hour quarantine in between checkouts.

Please let the library staff know if you are having difficulty finding the material you need for your class and we will investigate all options for you.

Newspapers and Magazines

Our newspaper and magazine subscriptions have been suspended for the fall semester. Full text is available online through Penn State University Libraries for the following, and many more, periodicals: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Bloomberg Businessweek, People, Sports Illustrated, and Time. Use NewsFinder to find online access for newspapers.

To find magazines and journals, choose the E-Journals tab in the FIND box on the Penn State University Libraries homepage.

One Button Studio

The One Button Studio will be available for limited use by one person at a time.

Zoom can function as a nice remote alternative to the One Button Studio. It can be used in either a synchronous class setting or students can record themselves and share the video after recording. Zoom recordings that students create can easily be turned in to Canvas or taken into a video editor for further refinement.
