The Heidrich House I

Kenneth J. and Dorothy G. Gerhart Heidrich
433 West Park Avenue
1939

Heidrich house I, front facade

At first glance the Heidrich House I appears quite traditional. However there are three features which were very uncommon for the period. First note that the design is split level. Second, note the Chicago-style picture window to the right. Finally, note that there is a two-car garage. All of these features would become commonplace following World War II.

Heidrich house I, front door detail

The front door is richly patterned with raised diamonds. Being all white, the detail is a bit difficult to discern.
