Collection Development Statement

The Pennsylvania State University Libraries is committed to organizing, preserving and providing access to an array of rich and unique resources in a variety of formats, in support of the teaching, research and public mission of the university. As one of the nation’s leading research libraries, and in keeping with Penn State’s global reach, the Libraries also strive to support the international community of scholars through our collections and services. This collection development philosophy guides the work of subject specialists across the Penn State Libraries. Collection development statements for specific disciplines or departments describe priorities and operational approaches appropriate to those disciplines, but all collection development work is clearly aligned with the strategic goals and priorities of The Pennsylvania State University.
