Overview

Georgiana Sheldon Sharp received her Master’s degree in Personnel and Labor Relations from Cornell University. She came to Washington, D. C. as Assistant to the Chairman of the Republican National Committee in 1957. She also served as Executive Secretary and Personal Assistant to the Honorable Rogers C. B. Morton of the U. S. House of Representatives, as a Special Recruiter for the Peace Corps, and as Deputy Director of the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency. She then went on to serve as Director of the Agency for International Development. She has also served as Acting Chairman and Commissioner of the U. S. Civil Service Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She has also served on the President’s Commission on Executive Exchange, co-chaired the International Women’s Year Committee of the Department of Defense, and served on the Foreign Service Board of the Employee Management Relations Commission.
